Philippe Bouveret’s barometer

Inside all dial barometers is an aneroid capsule or Vidie capsule (inventor Lucien Vidie in 1844). Vidie (inventor Lucien Vidie in 1844) the idea of Philippe Bouveret consists in plunging this capsule in a tube filled with water capsule in a tube filled with water for that a small float above the capsule allows to compensate its weight to compensate its weight and make it float.
With the differences in atmospheric pressure the capsule compresses or expands, when it compresses it sinks when it expands it rises to the surface according to the Archimedes' principle.
A small chain placed on the float allows to stabilize the movement from top to bottom. Indeed when the capsule goes down the weight of the chain on the float decreases and stabilizes the movement the downward movement, when the capsule goes up the weight of the chain on the float increases and stabilizes the upward movement.
Thus the capsule, which has become an index, will stabilize perfectly in front of the hPa engraved on the glass tube. On the side of the tube, a magnetized indicator highlights the meteorological movements.
When the index rises in relation to the indicator, the weather deteriorates, while in reverse, when the index goes down in relation to the indicator, the weather is fine.
This fun and decorative object is also very accurate because there is no friction.
